Overview
A very large colourful butterfly which is now very common throughout Cumbria. It is also now known to be one of the few species that hibernate over the winter in Cumbria.

Almost anywhere.

Early April to very late summer and even into autumn with a lull in mid-June to mid-July before the new emergence starts.
