The Orange tip is a habitat generalist and can still be seen in good numbers throughout Cumbria. It frequents hedgerows, wide roadside verges and WET GRASSLAND sites where its larval foodplant Ladyís Smock and Hedge Mustard grows in profusion.
Where to look
Almost anywhere, but especially areas of wet grassland. Howe Ridding CWT Reserve, SD 435882 is especially reliable.
When to look
Early April to the end of June: in Cumbria it usually tails off earlier so donít leave it too late.
